Spring 2010 Registration Instructions
              I.      SPRING 2010 CHANGES AND REMINDERS
1.     US Lacrosse Membership
The player must establish or renew their membership directly with US Lacrosse. The registration system automatically opens the US Lacrosse web site to verify the player's membership The membership must be active through 06/30/2010 in order to proceed with registration. ALC is not responsible for the membership fee as of this season. Membership in US Lacrosse is a requirement because ALC insurance is through the organization.

2.     All players register in their Birth Year Division
All players need to register for their birth year division. Players must try out for and play for teams based upon their birth year. This is a change from the 2009 season and applies to the girls and the boys. Players will only be allowed to “play up” if ALC determines that it is necessary to move players to fill out rosters so that we can maximize participation at each age group. Register the player in their birth year division even if the player wants to play up one division. There is a question on the form that allows the player to select a desired division.
3.     Residency and Proof of Age Documentation
All families are responsible for reviewing and adhering to the residency requirements as detailed in the Residency Requirements section.
4.     Payment Options
All payments are by Visa or MasterCard credit or debit cards. Families that need to pay by check can contact the club directly to make arrangements.

5.     Financial Aid and Scholarships are available
See the Financial Aid Request page on the web site to submit the request.
 
Registration for the spring 2010 season is through the Web site and opens on Saturday, November 14.  All players must register through the web site. Select Register Online from the menu on the left side of the page.
  
A.    Establish or renew US Lacrosse Membership
Go to http://www.alexandrialacrosse.com
The ALC registration system requests the player's US Lacrosse Membership Number and automatically brings you to the US Lacrosse web site. Follow the directions. The membership verifies through the US Lacrosse web site. The membership must be valid through 06/30/2010 in order to register the players. Players pay US Lacrosse directly for the membership. B.    Complete registration at ALC Web Site
  1. Go to http://www.alexandrialacrosse.com/
  2. Select Register On Line from the left side of the page
  3. Select the Division from the program on the screen. This is your child’s birth year division. See the table in the Divisions section of this document to identify the division.
  4. Review the Restriction Disclaimer and click Continue
  5. The Sign In screen opens.

    2. Enter your Email Address and click Submit. The system will immediately email you a temporary password. Hot Mail, MSN Mail and Yahoo Mail users need to check their Inbox, Junk or Bulk mail folder for the password email.
    3. Retrieve the password and return to web site and select Register Online. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you return to the sign-in sheet.

  6. Guardian Information screen opens. Follow the instructions. Changing the password at this point is optional.
  7. Family Entry and Participant Selection Screen opens. Follow the instructions. Select “Add Child” for new players or select the player from the established list.

  9. Registration Information screen opens. Complete the fields.
  10. Registration Review screen opens. Select either Register Another Individual or Pay Now

To Log Off:
Select Return to Registration Home Page from bottom of Payment Options screen. Select Log-off Registration from top of Instructions screen. Select Home from the left menu.
Submit Documents:
The residency and proof of age documents can be sent by mail or scanned and emailed to the club. Email: . ALC confirms US Lacrosse residency through US Lacrosse. The player is responsible for establishing and/or renewing the membership.
 
Players register by Birth Year:
ALC participates in the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League (NVYLL). The league divisions are by birth year. Players register for ALC in their birth year division. Playing in a division one level up from the birth year is discouraged. Players are prohibited from playing in a division lower than their birth year by league rules.
My player wants to play up one division:
Players must try out for and play for teams based upon their birth year. Players will only be allowed to “play up” if ALC determines that it is necessary to move players to fill out rosters so that we can maximize participation at each age group. There is a question in the registration system to make this request. The final decision regarding level of play is made by the Commissioner.

  1. Families registering players for the first time in a spring season must be residents of the City of Alexandria.
  2. Every first season player needs to submit Residency and Proof of Age documentation even if they have siblings in the program.
  3. Every returning player must have residency document(s) and a proof of age document on file with the club in order to participate.
  4. All participants must be residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  5. The player's residency is defined by the residency of their parent(s).
  6. Players who are not residents of the City of Alexandria but participated prior to the City of Alexandria requiring residency need to contact the club by email to confirm status.
  7. Families who participated in a previous spring season as city residents but have since relocated outside of the city can not participate in ALC.
  8. Participation in the fall clinic does not eliminate the city residency requirement for the spring game season.
  9. Coaches can not confirm or determine residency status on behalf of a player other than their own child.
  10. Direct all residency questions to ALC. Email: and put “Residency Question” in the subject line.
 
  1. The Residency and Proof of Age documents are submitted once per player and do not need to be submitted each year unless requested by the club.
  2. ALC reserves the right to ask for new documentation or additional documentation on any player.
  3. Players can not participate in tryouts/skill assessments until the forms are submitted. The documents can be submitted after the registration but must be received prior to the tryout/skill assessment.

Either Item A or B has to be on file with the club
A.   A legible copy of a YOUTH DMV Identification card. For details on the YOUTH DMV card see the Virginia DMV web site.
B.   The following documentation as a set:
1. A legible copy of one parent's driver's license AND
2. A legible copy of a car registration OR a utility bill. The name and address on the car registration or utility bill has to match the driver's license.
 
Each player must have item A or B on file with the club.

Participation in ALC is restricted to residents of the City of Alexandria. There are a small number of non-resident players who were participants prior to the city residency restriction. The field fee applies to these existing players.

Financial Assistance
Financial assistance is available. See the Financial Aid Request page on the web site to submit the request.
Refund Policy
ALC refunds the registration fee for withdrawals on or before March 1, 2010. Refund amount reduced by $20 to cover processing. Withdrawal Notification – Notify ALC by email to and put “Withdrawal” in the subject line.
 
Uniforms are owned by ALC. Uniforms are to be returned at the end of the season. Uniforms cannot be purchased by club members. Uniforms are to be worn at games only.
Girls: Girls return their Jerseys and Kilts at the end of the season.
Boys: Boys return their Jerseys at the end of the season. The boys keep their uniform shorts.
 
Register as early as possible. ALC reserves the right to end registration by age level at any time. The number of teams, and thus players, is determined by the number of coaches. Each age level is filled on a first-come basis. Registrations received after a division fills are put on the wait list. The wait list players are accepted if there are open slots on the appropriate age level team. Try outs and skills assessments are restricted to fully registered players. The number of registrations accepted depends on the number of volunteer coaches.
  1. All registered players are placed on a team. ALC does not use tryouts to cut players from the program.
  2. League rules require tryouts or skills assessments for every age group in which the club has multiple teams. The sessions are scheduled for late January or early February depending upon field availability. The details are distributed to registered players and posted to the web site when available.
  3. These sessions are restricted to fully registered players. No walk-in registrations are permitted.
  4. Players must try out for and play for teams based upon their birth year. Players will only be allowed to “play up” if ALC determines that it is necessary to move players to fill out rosters so that we can maximize participation at each age group.
  5. The final decision regarding level of play is made by the Commissioner. The goal is to keep the process fair for all players.
Players who currently participate or previously participated in a high school lacrosse program (freshman, JV or Varsity) are not eligible. Eighth graders born in 1994 are not eligible.
